3 Best High Tea in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Growing up in Kuala Lumpur City made me a city girl that loves to hang out with my besties over high tea. The traditional English afternoon tea (high tea) is popular here because we were influenced by British colonial. Today I’m gonna share my best places for high tea in KL.

First, TWG
We love TWG as it is available in major shopping malls in town. We can enjoy it almost anywhere and anytime after shopping.
Among all the hot and cold dishes, we love the Matcha Financiers Recipe the most.
Just a small tip to you who have yet to visit TWG, do note that their tea is not refillable. Hence, sip your tea wisely otherwise you gotta spend extra RM 20 or more for a pot of tea.
TWG Tea at Pavilion KL address:
Pavilion Kuala Lumpur,
Level 2, Lot P2.16.00 & 2.34.01, 168, Jalan Bukit Bintang 55100
Kuala Lumpur
Tel: + 60 3 2142 9922
Opening Hours:
Monday - Sunday, 10am - 10pm

Secondly, Majestic Hotel Kuala Lumpur.
As one of the most historical building in KL that was built in Colonial time, Majestic Hotel is a beautiful place to enjoy high tea and take pretty pictures.

If you have the budget, do enjoy high tea in their beautiful Orchid room. Else a signature high tea at their elegant Tea Lounge is not bad too. We always try to get a table under the natural sun light for best pictures.

Another reason we chosen Majestic Hotel KL is because of its ample car parks at the basements. Guests could easily purchase a car park card at RM 10 at any restaurants in the hotel. We feel secure and safe there as guards wearing colonial army suits are seen almost everywhere there.

The Majestic Hotel Kuala Lumpur address:
5, Jalan Sultan Hishamuddin,
50000 Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Tel : +603 2785 8000
Fax : +603 2785 8080

Last but not least, Newens Tea House at Starhill Gallery.
Newens Tea House is exclusive and unique as it is the only place that serve Maids of Honour tarts besides London. The tea taste really good here in Newens Tea House.
What we like about Newens Tea House is that we could sit down and relax at the high-back chairs and sofas. It is quite privacy as well, plus enjoy watching the trendiest fashionistas walking around the distinctive shopping mall – Starhill Gallery.
High Tea for Two served with freshly baked scones, clotted cream and preserves, assorted sandwiches, Original Maids of Honour, delicious pastries and macarons, plus a pot of your preferred choice of tea for just RM 120 or more.
Newens Tea House Starhill Gallery Opening Hours:

[Food & Drink] White Horse Tavern

Work hard, play hard, this is a quote I always tell myself. Hence, my colleague and I love to go Happy Hour every Friday after work as a celebration to a week’s hard work. We have tried out quite a lot of bars and restaurants in Klang Valley.
Today I wanna share one that is really good because we could get our alcohol and pork cravings fix here.
The White Horse Tavern at Amp Walk Mall, Jalan Ampang is a new bar in town. Here they serve Beer, stout, whisky, wine and many more choices of beverages. Serving really good porky food, it quickly turns to be our most favourite bar in town. With ample or car park at the basement with considering cheap parking fees, and spacious area with kids’ corner, it is indeed a best place for dining with family and friends.
Let’s look into some of their items in their extensive menu;

Stuffed Portobello Mushrooms
This tapaz is great pair with alcohol drinks. Portobello mushrooms stuffed with mozzarella cheese and wrapped in bacon and then grilled to perfection, this is juicy and yummy.

BBQ Chicken Wings (RM32)

A favourite appetizer for the whole family. It is not just another BBQ chicken wing but indeed the chicken wings are marinated perfectly and barbecued to perfection. We can’t stop eating it.

Honey Comb Baby Pork Ribs (RM129)

Honey Comb Baby Pork Ribs is Chef Yogi’s Signature Dish at White Horse Tavern. Using pure honeycomb from Cameron Highlands, it is sweet and juicy. Served with grilled corn on the cob, jacket potato and a choice of sauce of BBQ, Black Pepper Mushroom or Hellfire XL Sauce. Every bite gives us different sensation, we can’t have enough of this!

Honey Comb Baby Pork Ribs is exclusively available after 12PM from Mondays to Saturdays only. Do make a reservation prior to avoid disappointment.

Crispy Roast Pork Knuckle (RM90)
Crispy Roast Pork Knuckle is a very important dish of German cuisine that is best paired with beer. Served with crisp golden cracking and streaky bacon and the sauce of creamy spicy mustard, and prune and apple compote, WHT’s Crispy Roast Pork Knuckle’s crunchy golden crackling and the juicy, tender meat are simply awesome.

Chef Yogi also demonstrated us how to debone a pork knuckle. No doubt this is another must order item but take note it is only available after 6pm from Mondays to Saturdays.

Pork Burger (180g | RM28)
We love the thick and juicy patty. WHT’s pork burger is served with fries, salad, caramelized onion, coleslaw and gherkin. This is definitely a quick fix for the adults and the kids.

Deep Dish Alfredo Pizza (RM32)
Seafood lovers like me surely enjoy this grilled fin fish pizza along with melted Gouda cheese and cream. WHT’s Deep Dish Alfredo pizza is thin crust and baked to perfection, it is an irresistible order for  the whole family.

Dad’s Breakfast Pizza (RM28)

This is a very interesting pizza that is loaded with eggs, sausages, bacon, mushroom and hash browns with Cheddar cheese. It is extra delicious when eating it hot from the oven.

Fish Gratin (RM35)

Fin fish gratin surely satisfy any fin fish lover, it is served with creamy mashed potatoes, leeks, carrots and zucchini in cheesy white sauce.

Chicken Mushroom Pie (RM38)
WHT’s homemade pies is available for raw and cooked. One can buy home to bake or enjoy it in the cosy bar. Served with creamy mashed potatoes, Roast Gravy Sauce and sautéed vegetables, Chicken Mushroom pie is highly recommended from us.

Minced Beef Pie (RM38)

Beef lovers would not missed to order WHT’s homemade minced beef pie which is served with jacket potato, green salad and sautéed vegetables

Bread and Butter Pudding with Homemade Caramel Sauce (RM 17)
Honestly I’m never a fans of this traditional British dessert but WHT’s Bread and Butter Pudding with Homemade Caramel Sauce has changed my perception. The bread and butter pudding was crispy outside and soft inside. The caramel sauce is the best compliments of  WHT’s Bread and Butter Pudding.

Note: The above is not in full portion

I believe you are already drooling after reading this post, right? Well, we love all the delicious food prepared by Chef Yogi at White Horse Tavern. So, bring your family and friends over for a great meal with good people.

OISHI Green Tea Lychee - So Refreshing, So Oishi!

If you love the delicate sweet taste of lychee and the refreshing flavours of green tea, you’re in for a treat, as OISHI Green Tea has just unveiled its latest addition to its family of products: OISHI Green Tea Lychee! Available since 1 December 2015, the newest product in OISHI Green Tea’s range of ready-to-drink green tea delivers an “out of this world” experience by combining the two ingredients together to create an exciting new beverage that delivers a delicious burst of flavours that is truly unique.
The new flavour was made available following the findings from a market research study by Nielsen, which was specially commissioned by F&N Beverages. Based on the results of the study, F&N Beverages discovered that lychee is a popular fruit with Malaysians, loved for its naturally sweet flavour, and is one of the top three flavours in the ready-to-drink juices category. The research also indicated that there are not many beverages that combine both the flavours of green tea and lychee, effectively presenting OISHI Green Tea the opportunity to develop a new product that meets the needs of the consumers who are looking for healthier alternative beverage options.
Ms. Lorraine Tan (third from right) and Ms. Ng Cheng Ying (second from right) officiating at the OISHI Green Tea Lychee launch with the Neko Cat, OISHI Green Tea’s mascot.

“The taste of lychee and green tea complements each other well, imparting OISHI Green Tea Lychee a pleasant yet uniquely light and refreshing flavour that is certainly out of this world. Lychee is an outstanding favourite with Malaysians, as it is a fragrant fruit loved for its naturally sweet flavour. We believe Malaysians looking for healthier alternative beverage options will be happy to know that we are now offering a beverage that combines the best of green tea and lychee in one bottle,” said Ms. Lorraine Tan, Senior Marketing Manager at F&N Services Sdn. Bhd.
OISHI Green Tea is made from 100% fresh organic green tea leaves, grown on certified organic plantations. Only three of the best and youngest green tea leaves are carefully handpicked from the tip of each branch. The leaves are then masterfully brewed to OISHI’s signature tea recipe to capture the authentic yet delicate taste of Japanese green tea. It is brewed without any preservatives, artificial flavours or colouring. Rich in natural nutrients, it delivers a truly authentic Japanese flavour and distinctive aroma.

King’s Potong Teh Tarik

King’s Potong brings back fond nostalgic memories of the good old days when the simplest treat makes us happy. The ‘potong’ ice cream used to be the afternoon delight we all look forward to on a hot afternoon. Today, though we are spoilt for choice with the many varieties of cold desserts, we still enjoy the simple things in life like a ‘potong’ popsicle.

In preserving the Malaysian food culture and in ensuring that all Malaysians get to enjoy their favourite dessert in the form of ice cream Potong, King’s Potong has put together various Malaysian flavours, which include Red Bean, Black Glutinous Rice, Durian, Cempedak and Yam. King’s Potong is known for its delicious homemade flavor with real coconut milk.
Enjoying the Malaysian all-time favourite wouldn’t be the same without the good old Teh Tarik. Therefore, King’s Potong in collaboration F&N Sweetened Creamer has launched the Teh Tarik variant. The King’s Potong Teh Tarik variant is based on F&N’s original recipe, which includes 2.5g of tea dust and two tablespoons of F&N Sweetened Creamer to maintain the authentic taste of a cup of Teh Tarik. Now enjoying Teh Tarik will never the same again especially when it’s on a frozen stick.

“With King’s Potong’s latest Teh Tarik version, ‘Jom Teh Tarik’ can be enjoyed anywhere at your convenience as long as you have a freezer. It can be at your office or even at home,” said Mr Michael Loh, General Manager of F&N Creameries (M) Sdn Bhd.
The King’s Potong multipack (6 x 60ml) retailed at RM6.95 per pack while the loose sticks (60ml) retail at RM1.30 per piece (inclusive of 6% GST). The King’s Potong various flavours are available at all leading hypermarkets, supermarkets, and even at your nearest grocery outlets.
